Bishop Bill Murphy response to media queries on Cardinal Brady

This is a difficult time for people who have been abused. The past cannot be undone and I am very aware that feelings run deep in relation to the way clerical child abuse has been handled.
In regard to calls for Cardinal Brady to resign, I refer people to the statement he made on Wednesday in which he addressed all the issues.
The Diocese of Kerry is fully committed to safeguarding children and young people. We have put in place policies, procedures and personnel, in every parish, to see to it that children and young people are cared for as they participate in the various Church activities in their parish. We must continue this work with care and attention.
I pray for healing for all who have been hurt and betrayed by the failures of Church people in the past.
