The Conference of Possibilities took place on Saturday the 18th of April, in the Brehon Hotel during which over 20 stalls of organisations who work with young people displayed their resources and presented on their work to members of the Clergy, Pastoral Leaders and members of Pastoral Councils from all over the Diocese of Kerry.
The morning was filled with enthusiasm and hope and those who attended the conference made their way around the many colourful and welcoming stalls. Some of the stalls present were Alpha, Christlife, Radio Maria, Killarney Faith Camp, Knock Youth Hub, Net Ministries, Prayer Spaces, to name but a few.
The Conference, organised by the Diocesan Pastoral Team, also launched two exciting innovations for the Diocese, on the day. Firstly, the launch of the Spirit Youth Programme which is aimed at 15/16-year-olds. It is a Personal & Spiritual programme which will commence in 6 parishes to start with, Tralee, Killarney, Spa, Milltown, Ballyduff which being incorporated into Rathmore Youth Group which is already up and running. Youth Leaders are already being recruited for the next tranche of training to cover the Kenmare and Beara Pastoral Areas.
Also launched on the day was the Pope John Paul II Awards Programme. This Awards Programme will be embedded into the Spirit Youth Groups and will motivate and enable young participation in parish communities. The Knights of Columbanus have generously agreed to fund the programme and were there in force on the day to lend their support.
