Striving to provide Faith Formation opportunities for young people in our Parishes!
By working together we can provide an abundance of faith formation opportunities throughout the Diocese of Kerry. To explore how the Diocese can help you, you can download the Youth Ministry in our Parishes Leaflet.
This leaflet will provide you with some of the ways in which the Diocese can support you and your parish in exploring and learning about what youth ministry is and how to begin. The key five areas are mapped out as follows:
- What does it meant to become a Youth Friendly Parish and how can a parish become one?
- What is it like to work with young people today and where do we start?
- Practical training in Facilitation Skills and Spirit Youth Leadership
- Ongoing Support Network for Youth Volunteers
- What youth programmes are available to run in Parishes
- Parish talks on Young People and Hope
If you would like to know more, just contact the Pastoral Office and the Co-Ordinator of Youth Ministry will have a chat with you and together explore where to start or indeed continue the youth ministry possibilities.
The Diocese of Kerry values and encourages the participation of young people in parish activities. Their active involvement can help to enhance their spiritual, social, physical and emotional development.

Components
- Prayer and worship
Celebrating and deepening young people’s relationship with God through prayer and worship.
2. Community life
Creating a sense of welcome and assuring all young people that they are valued and cared for.
3. Faith Formation
Nourishing the life of faith of the young person.
4. Leadership
Providing adults and young people with the knowledge and skills to work with others in an empowering manner.
5. Advocacy
Standing up for those who are powerless and voiceless in society.
6. Justice
Serving those in need, defending the rights of all, peace-making and caring for creation.
7. Pastoral Care
Providing a compassionate presence, especially to those who are hurting and in need.
Comprehensive Approach
No one individual, group or organisation can deliver all the components. It requires the involvement of young people, their families, their parish communities and the wider community.
Youth and Young Adult ministry happens in the community, outside of formal education and is based on the voluntary participation of young people.
The methodology involves listening to and accompanying young people and enabling them to share their gifts with the broader community while also providing opportunities for them to experience a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
