The parish of Duagh and Lyreacrompane is now in the Parish Custer of Listowel and Lixnaw. We see ourselves as rural, because of our geographical location. The main church is called St. Brigid's and gives a clue as to the ecclesial history of the area. The village of Duagh is on the banks of the river Feale at a crossing point where monks came from Kildare to set up a church. The present building is the third church in the area and was built over 150 years ago in Neo-Gothic style and of local stone. The other church was built on the banks of the river Smearla in Lyreacrompane and is dedicated to the Sacred Heart. Recently it celebrated 50 years a growing.
