Over the past few weeks, our listening process is underway throughout the diocese. Already, people in the pastoral areas of Millstreet, Iveragh and Killorglin have gathered to listen and share on how they are in regard to church at this time in our history and to consider how we might move forward together. In the next fortnight, the pastoral areas of Corcha Dhuibhne, Tralee, Beara and Kenmare will be gathering.
These meetings are an initiative of the Diocesan Pastoral Council, a group of representatives from pastoral areas throughout the diocese, who work with Bishop Bill in his pastoral care of the diocese. Each parish needs a parish pastoral council to enable us, the parish community, to share responsibility for the mission of the parish. As a group, they think and plan for the parish on an ongoing basis, to respond to present and future needs. So likewise with the Diocesan Pastoral Council. They work alongside the Bishop in a consultative manner.
