Kerry Diocesan Justice, Peace & the Integrity of Creation Committee - OBJECTIVES

 

1) To raise awareness of the call to work for justice as an essential religious task within the church community.
by promoting & supporting relevant initiatives of other organisations eg Trócaire Lenten Campaign, World Refugee Day(20 June).

2) To create awareness of the Christian call to safeguard Human Rights on a global level

by highlighting Human Rights Day (10 Dec).

3) To pray for peace & to stimulate/ encourage others to do so.

by encouraging all parishes to celebrate World Peace Day (Jan. 1st ) with a mass on the papal theme  & with other events eg vigils and with prayer/reflection at all events organised by the Committee.

4) To promote the Integrity of Creation as a central area for Christian involvement/action.

by hosting & promoting Earth Week every year, thus providing a platform for prayer/reflection, education, discussion on a range of issues and actions in this area.

5) To act as a resource for information on issues of justice, peace & the integrity of creation within the diocese.

by actively promoting the cause of peace, justice and the integrity of creation using links with parishes, schools and the general public by means of letters, radio, the diocesan web-site etc.

6) To act as a voice  within the church community & beyond, for justice , peace & the integrity of creation as relevant issues arise especially locally, nationally & internationally

by means of letters, radio, the diocesan web-site etc; by networking with other relevant organisations/groups- Council for Justice & Peace, Trócaire, Pax Christi International, Fairtrade Ireland, TIRC/KASI, Kerry Stop Sex Trafficking Campaign.

7) To contribute to inter-faith dialogue

by  supporting & promoting World Religion Day (Feb ) and seeking publicity for same. This aims to foster respect & share what inspires.
