Our Diocese

KDYS

The Kerry Diocesan Youth Service has been in existence since 1972 and is affiliated to the National Youth Federation. The aim of the Youth Service is to enable young people to gain for themselves, the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to meet their own and others developmental needs.

This is facilitated by a range of services available to young people in the diocese: a network of over 50 Youth Clubs; Community Based Youth Projects in urban areas; Centre Based Training Programmes for Early School Leavers; Special Projects for the Travelling Community and a comprehensive Youth Information Service.

The Kerry Diocesan Youth Service currently works with over 4,000 young people with the input of over 50 paid youth workers and 300 voluntary workers. While the K.D.Y.S. targets all young people, it positively discriminates in favour of those who are marginalised and socially excluded.
