Eucharistic Congress

The International Eucharistic Congress is on in Dublin  2012

Theme: The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and with one another

At the end of the 2008 International Eucharistic Congress in Quebec, Pope Benedict XVI announced that the 50th International Eucharistic Congress will be held in Dublin in 2012. This international gathering will aim to deepen the Church's understanding and appreciation of the gift of the Eucharist by means of a week of prayer, liturgical celebration, talks, discussions and other religious and cultural events. The theme of the Dublin Congress will be The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and with one another. This theme is drawn from the teaching of the Second Vatican Council which opened in 1962 - 50 years before the Congress.

The Congress will be preceded by a nationwide programme of activities aimed at encouraging participation in the Congress and deepening the appreciation of the Eucharist within the Irish Church and the role of the Church and the Eucharist in building up a sense of communion and community in a fragmented world.

The contact person for the 2012 Eucharistic Congress in the Diocese of Kerry is Rev. Bernard Healy, Tigh na Sagart, Dingle.
