Sr. Consilio of Cuan Mhure is the speaker on Addiction on Friday 5th March. Sr. Consilio has spoken in Kerry several times to both adults and teenagers and always with remarkable clarity and effect. Cuan Mhuire was founded by Sr. Consilio in 1966. Cuan Mhuire offers a comprehensive, structured, abstinence based, residential programme to persons suffering from alcohol, other chemical dependencies and gambling. Approximately 2,500 people are treated for addiction in the centers every year.
Joan Freeman – psychologist and founder of Pieta House, centre for the prevention of self-harm or suicide is the speaker on Friday the 12th March. Pieta House is a focused, counselling service which is readily accessible to those in need. “It is a first step in the development of what must become a national service”, said Dr John Connolly – Secretary Irish Association of Suicidology.
Don Devaney psychologist speaks on Coping with Unemployment on Friday the 19th March. Unemployment is very much a reality in Kerry today. Don helps us to face up to this reality and to make the best of the current situation. His style is empathic and empowering.
The final night is Friday the 26th March and Msgr. Dan O Riordan will be exploring the faith Dimension which will have been in evidence through-out the series: Our Faith in Challenging Times. The format of this night will be influenced by the feedback from the previous sessions.
